A Bare Trust provides the structure an SMSF needs to borrow and hold property under an LRBA. The corporate custodian trustee holds legal title while the SMSF retains full beneficial ownership and controls all income, expenses and decisions. This arrangement protects compliance, isolates risk, and ensures the fund meets ATO and SIS Act requirements when acquiring property through borrowing.
