Beneficiaries

Who is to receive the death benefit. Percentages must total 100%.

Eligible recipients only. Each beneficiary must be a SIS dependant (spouse, child of any age, financial dependant, interdependency) or the legal personal representative (LPR / executor of the estate). Naming an ineligible person makes the nomination invalid in respect of that share.

Lapsing or non-lapsing. Default is 3-year lapsing.

3-year lapsing

Default

Standard binding nomination under regulation 6.17A. Lapses 3 years after signing and must be renewed to remain in effect. Always valid under SIS regardless of what the deed says.

Non-lapsing

Remains in effect indefinitely until revoked or replaced by the member. Only valid if the SMSF deed expressly permits non-lapsing nominations.

Deed required. Please upload the current SMSF deed (and any variations) in section 6 so we can confirm. If the deed doesn't permit it, we'll let you know and either prepare a 3-year nomination instead or quote on a deed variation.
